Ohio 529 Office Closed For Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

The office of Ohio’s 529 Plan, CollegeAdvantage, will be closed on Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Our Customer Service Department will also be closed for the holiday. Our Customer Service representatives are available to assist you on regular business days from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET before or after the holiday.  You can reach them at 1-800-AFFORD-IT (800-233-6734).

While our office may be closed, you can always open an account online over the holiday weekend to start saving for education after high school. 

If you are already an Ohio 529 account owner, you can log in to complete transactions online as usual or use the READYSAVE 529 app to access your account information, track account growth, and make both one-time and recurring contributions all from your cell phone. You can download the READYSAVE 529 app now from the Apple and Google Play app stores. Once you install the app, select Ohio’s 529 Plan from the list and log in with the same username and password you use to access your account online.

The New York Stock Exchange(NYSE) will also be closed on Monday, Jan. 16, 2023. Any transaction requested on a holiday, weekend, or after the NYSE closes will be processed on the next business day.

To learn more about the state’s celebration of Dr. King, please visit The Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission. The Ohio Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Celebration will be held from noon-1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 125 E. Broad St., Columbus.

Ohio History Connection will be host an open house from noon – 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, in partnership with the Kings Art Complex. The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is hosting a King Legacy Celebration: Love and Justice with a continental breakfast, performances, and with Brittany Packnett Cunningham as the keynote speaker. The celebration starts at 8 a.m.  Monday, Jan 16. Many organizations is Cleveland are offering special events in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. There are multiple celebrations being held around the University Circle, listen to the Cleveland Orchestra is hosting a free concert, and the Maltz Museum will offer many in-person and online workshops.
