It’s easy to give the gift of education. Whether you’re the Account Owner asking for gifts for your children, or the gift giver making a gift to a future college student, the steps are straightforward. We want it to be easy for everyone, like grandparents, aunts, uncles, other family members, and even friends, to give a gift to a CollegeAdvantage Direct Plan account.

Are you the Account Owner?

Many of our Account Owners have family and friends (non-account owners) who have expressed a desire to contribute to their loved ones’ CollegeAdvantage accounts. With information that you provide to them, anyone can easily make a contribution. Ugift® makes it simple. Just log in to your Direct Plan account and click on Ugift. Get your unique Ugift code for each of your beneficiaries. Give the Ugift code to family and friends and instruct them to use the code at At they can make one-time or recurring electronic contributions at any time, for any reason. As the account owner, you can also use Ugift to send email and hardcopy invitations to family and friends to celebrate specific occasions with a gift contribution.

For those who prefer to make gift contributions by check, they can simply send a handwritten check in the mail. You will need to give your family member or friend the following information to ensure that their contributions to your beneficiaries’ accounts are processed successfully:

  1. Your CollegeAdvantage Direct Plan 11-digit account number for the specific beneficiary
  2. The payee name (make checks payable to): Ohio Tuition Trust Authority
  3. The mailing address where the payment will be sent:

CollegeAdvantage Direct 529 Savings Plan
P.O. Box 219305
Kansas City, MO 64121-9305

Once the gift contribution is received for your CollegeAdvantage account, it will be automatically allocated to your existing beneficiaries and investment options according to the "Contribution Allocations" instructions on file with your account. To verify or change your account allocation instructions, log in to your Direct Plan account and go to "Allocation Management, Contribution Allocations."

Are you the Gift-Giver?

If you're a grandparent, family member, or friend who wants to give a gift contribution to a loved one who is the beneficiary of a CollegeAdvantage Direct Plan account, there are a couple of easy ways to do so. The easiest way is to ask the account owner (usually the child’s parent) for the child’s unique CollegeAdvantage Direct Plan Ugift code. Then, all you have to do is go to, enter the child’s Ugift code, and make your online contribution. It’s that easy. (If the parent doesn’t yet have a Ugift code for their child, all they have to do is log in to their CollegeAdvantage Direct Plan account and click on Ugift to request a code.)

If you prefer to make your gift with a check, you will need the child’s actual 11-digit CollegeAdvantage Direct Plan account number. Simply write the 11-digit account number in the memo line of your check made payable to the Ohio Tuition Trust Authority and mail your check to:
