Ohio 529 CollegeAdvantage is proud to be a part of the COSI Science Festival and encourages Ohio residents to take advantage of all the fun events at the one of the largest STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) event in the state. In conjunction with the Ohio Department of Higher Education, Ohio 529 is pleased to partner with COSI (Center of Science and Industry) in support their Science Festival, which runs from Wednesday, April 29 to Saturday, May 2, all around central Ohio, as well as the main campus and its surrounding grounds at 333 West Broad St., Columbus, OH 43215.
During the COSI Science Festival, your family can explore many ways
that we use science in our everyday lives at events all around the central Ohio community. The events have been divided into categories such as Be A Scientist, Adult Science Series, Creative Sparks, Science Block Party, Career Lab, and Outdoor Exploration. For instance, your family can enjoy outings like:
- exploring nature at many Metro Parks; test driving a gravity-powered soap box derby car
- learning how to “grow scientists” with The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences
- making pounded plant prints
- learning about chemistry as you create your own lava lamp
- touring the Franklin County Forensic Science Center
- enjoying a solstice star party and planetarium show
- studying the science behind rock’n’roll
- experimenting with AI
- for adults, enjoying “Birds, Brews, and Burgers” at the Grange Insurance Audubon center
And that’s a just very small list of the many events happening around central Ohio as part of COSI Big Science Celebration.
From 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday, May 2, COSI will host the Big Science Celebration on the Scioto Peninsula in downtown Columbus. Over one hundred exhibitors will be there from STEAM professionals, researchers, many different departments from The Ohio State University, state agencies like the Ohio Department of Higher Education, Ohio 529, and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Columbus Metropolitan Library, and many other local businesses and organizations. There will be fun, hands-on (and sometimes messy) activities for your family to explore.
We hope to see you there!
