The Dragons MVP Program is an educational program for teachers to help motivate and reward fourth- and fifth-grade students for success in the classroom. The MVP program is for public, private, and parochial schools throughout Miami Valley. This includes Clark, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, and Warren counties. Over 1,200 teachers and classrooms took advantage of the program.
Ohio 529 is committed to helping families prepare for the cost of their children’s education after high school so six student winners each won a $529 college savings award to add to or start their Ohio 529 Direct Plan account. A student winner was randomly selected from each of the following counties —Clark, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, and Warren—as well as area private schools.
This year, the MVP teacher program was updated. Now, one lucky teacher was randomly selected to win a $2,500 college savings award!
The MVP student winners enjoyed the May 31 game for the check presentation with Trisha Good, the now-retired executive director of Ohio 529 CollegeAdvantage. The parents of the student winners were:
- Clark County: Sataughzia Bray
- Greene County: Rebecca Breiding
- Miami County: Nathan Dicke
- Montgomery County: Alisa Jackson
- Warren County: Jonah Dove
- Private School: John Enis
The MVP teacher winner enjoyed the July 24 game for the check presentation with Dave Kemp, the interim executive director of Ohio 529. The teacher winner was Christie Schulz. At the time of the sweepstakes, she taught fourth grade science and social studies at Kenwood Elementary in Springfield.
