Ohio’s 529 Plan, CollegeAdvantage, is proud to partner with the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation to present the Book Jackets program, which is designed to encourage central Ohio K-8 students to increase their reading time and sharpen their learning skills.
For all central Ohio teachers interested in participating in this Book Jackets program, you can register your classroom to participate in the program. Once signed up, you will receive a packet with everything to inspire your students to read: an instruction manual for you, letters to share with the parents, a classroom poster and puck nametags, and student scorecards.
The students' parents/guardians will help keep track of minutes read outside the classroom that will be reported back to the teachers weekly. At the end of the four weeks, you as the teacher will submit classroom forms onto this website.
The Columbus Metropolitan Library has created a list of hockey-related books to read at every grade level. The Columbus Blue Jackets also have additional Book Jackets resources available for you to use in the classroom.
May 2, 2025, will be the last day to submit students’ reading minutes.
